The Odisha government has issued memoranda to senior IPS officers D S Kutey and Ashish Kumar Singh in connection with cases of imputation.
The officers were given 30 days to submit their written defense, failing which an inquiry will be conducted in their absence. The Home Department issued the memoranda to Singh on August 6 and to Kutey on August 21.
Previously influential figures in the BJD government led by Naveen Patnaik, Kutey and Singh are now serving as Officers on Special Duty (OSDs) in the Home Department. Kutey, accused of election interference, was suspended and later reinstated on the Election Commission of India's recommendation. Singh allegedly misrepresented health facts to avail leave during the polls.
