The MP-MLA court in Sultanpur was unable to proceed with a defamation case Friday against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. The plaintiff, Vijay Mishra, cited ill health as the reason for his absence, according to his lawyer Santosh Kumar Pandey.
Consequently, the court has rescheduled the hearing for September 5, Pandey revealed. During this period, the plaintiff is expected to present evidence through his legal representative.
The case, originating from Gandhi's controversial 2018 remarks about BJP leader Amit Shah, saw Gandhi surrendering to the court in February 2024. Following his initial bail, Gandhi has made several court appearances, with the most recent statement recorded on July 26.
