Austria's Freedom Party Unveils Elections Campaign Manifesto

Austria's far-right Freedom Party (FPO), which opinion polls favor for the upcoming general election on Sept. 29, unveiled its campaign manifesto on Wednesday. The party, led by Herbert Kickl, laid out measures designed to boost the economy and limit immigration, summarizing the programme as one centered on individuality, sovereignty, homogeneity, and solidarity.

Earning notable attention, the FPO pledged a series of economic measures including no new taxes, tax breaks for young workers, and subsidized housing. They also proposed tax relief for longer working hours and a 5,000 euro bonus for qualified apprentices to encourage mastery in trades.

On immigration, the FPO aims to reduce asylum numbers and promote 'remigration.' Social policies include linking welfare benefits to citizenship and banning 'political Islam.' Democracy would see more direct involvement from citizens, including the right to vote out cabinet ministers or the government via referenda.
