The Bombay High Court on Wednesday requested a response from the police regarding petitions filed by Mihir Shah, the primary suspect in a BMW hit-and-run incident, and his driver, Rajrishi Bidawat. Both are seeking immediate release, alleging their arrests were illegal.

Mihir Shah was detained on July 9, two days following the incident in Mumbai's Worli area, where his BMW struck a two-wheeler, resulting in the death of Kaveri Nakhwa and injuring her husband. His driver, who was in the car during the accident, was arrested the same day.

Currently in judicial custody, both Shah and Bidawat filed habeas corpus petitions in the high court, claiming their detention is unlawful and demanding immediate release. The court heard their pleas on Wednesday and instructed the police to file a reply by August 29.
