The India-Japan partnership is moving towards greater growth, set against the backdrop of a free and open Indo-Pacific, as stated by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar during the recent '2+2' dialogue with Japan.
The dialogue, held in Delhi, saw the Japanese delegation headed by Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa and Defence Minister Kihara Minoru, while the Indian side was led by Jaishankar and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
Jaishankar highlighted the decade-long evolution into a special strategic and global partnership, underscoring the need for reliable partners amid a volatile world. Singh emphasized that the defence partnership is crucial for India to achieve its goal of becoming a developed country by 2047 and prioritize domestic defence capabilities.
