Russia summoned a senior U.S. diplomat on Tuesday to protest the 'provocative actions' of American journalists reporting from the Kursk region.

The Foreign Ministry informed U.S. Charge d'Affaires Stephanie Holmes that the reporters illegally crossed into the region, where Ukrainian forces had recently mounted an incursion. Moscow plans to prosecute them.

The accusations targeted journalists from the Washington Post and CNN who reported from Sudzha, a Russian border town currently controlled by Kyiv. The ministry claims their actions demonstrate direct U.S. involvement in the conflict. The media outlets and U.S. embassy in Moscow did not respond to requests for comments.
