Dr. Jitendra Singh, the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology, Earth Sciences, PMO, Department of Atomic Energy, Department of Space, and Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, received the prestigious "Distinguished Mentor of the Year" award from the American College of Physicians at the 9th Annual Conference of the ACP India Chapter held in Lucknow today.

In his address during the inauguration session, Dr. Singh highlighted India’s growing prominence in global health research and its significant contributions to medical health, research, and education. He underscored the nation's potential to lead in these fields, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between the private and public sectors and international organizations in advancing medical sciences.

Dr. Singh also discussed the success of India's space sector, noting the substantial investments made following its opening to private investment under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This move has led to a surge in Space Startups and significant financial investments.

Addressing the issue of health, Dr. Singh acknowledged the rise of non-communicable diseases in India while also pointing out that communicable diseases persist. He noted that Western countries, previously more affected by non-communicable diseases, are now also facing infectious diseases due to recent pandemics like AIDS and COVID-19.

The Minister stressed the potential for collaboration between India and the USA, leveraging India’s cost-effective research facilities, diverse medical conditions, and traditional medical knowledge. He emphasized the importance of preventive healthcare for the younger generation to ensure their contributions to nation-building, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of "Viksit Bharat" by 2047.
