Airman Jack Teixeira Faces Court-Martial for Leaked Classified Documents

Jack Teixeira, a member of the Massachusetts Air National Guard, faced arraignment on charges of leaking classified U.S. national security documents online. During his court appearance at Hanscom Air Force Base, Teixeira deferred entering a plea until his court-martial trial in March.

Teixeira had previously pleaded guilty to separate federal charges in March, and the Air Force subsequently pursued additional charges for violating military laws. Prosecutors allege that Teixeira ignored orders to cease accessing unrelated classified information and obstructed justice by disposing of electronic devices after the leaks were discovered.

Teixeira, who held a top-secret clearance despite being a low-level airman, began accessing and sharing classified documents in January 2022. His court-martial trial will see further pre-trial motions addressed in November and January, with a sentencing recommendation of over 16 years from the Justice Department.
