A case of desecration of the national flag has surfaced in the Jamna Paar area, leading police to charge four individuals and initiate a search for their apprehension, officials reported on Friday.

According to Superintendent of Police (City) Arvind Kumar, the incident was reported by the in-charge of the Lakshmi Nagar police outpost after a video emerged showing the national flag being disrespected by four people.

Circulating on social media, the alleged video depicts the individuals laying the tricolour on the ground and gambling on it, while wearing shoes.

"Upon receiving the information, Lakshmi Nagar police outpost in-charge Rajpal Singh started efforts to identify the individuals in the video. Three of the four individuals have been identified as Munesh Master, Jaichand Driver, and Pintu. The identity of the fourth person remains unknown," informed Kumar.

The SP noted that a case has been registered against all four under Section 2 of the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971, and a search operation is underway to apprehend them.

Kumar assured that the accused would be arrested and incarcerated soon.
