Ukrainian Incursion Escalates Global Tensions: Russia Warns of Potential World War
A Russian parliamentary deputy has stated that the ongoing Western-backed Ukrainian incursion into Russia's Kursk region has brought the world dangerously close to a global conflict. Over 200,000 people have been evacuated from the affected area. Accusations have been made against NATO and Western nations, although counterclaims suggest Russia receives support from China, Iran, and North Korea.
A Western-backed Ukrainian incursion into Russia's Kursk region has created a critical juncture, with a Russian parliamentary deputy warning that the conflict is on the verge of sparking an all-out global war. Ukrainian troops' actions in the region since Aug. 6 have forced Moscow to relocate over 200,000 residents.
Deputy Mikhail Sheremet, a member of the Russian parliament's defense committee, highlighted the extensive use of Western military equipment in attacks on Russia and claimed involvement of foreign forces, suggesting the world stands on the brink of a third world war. Sheremet accused NATO countries of endorsing these incursion plans, a claim denied by Washington.
In an interview with Izvestia, Putin's aide Nikolai Patrushev also accused the West of masterminding the attack, although he did not provide evidence. Meanwhile, Ukraine and its allies argue that Russia's war effort is bolstered by support from China, Iran, and North Korea. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un reasserted his commitment to cooperate with Russia, expressing confidence in Moscow's victory.
