Iranian Military Adviser Dies After Syrian Bombardment
Colonel Ahmadreza Afshari, a military adviser from Iran's Revolutionary Guard's Aerospace Force, succumbed to injuries sustained in Syria. The injuries were the result of coalition airstrikes, possibly involving the U.S. and Israel, which have targeted Iran-aligned factions. Iran previously launched retaliatory attacks against Israeli targets.

A military adviser from Iran's Revolutionary Guard's Aerospace Force died following injuries sustained in Syria, according to a report by the semi-official Fars news agency on Thursday.
Colonel Ahmadreza Afshari was martyred as a result of aerial bombardments carried out by the coalition in violation of Syria, confirmed top Revolutionary Guard Commander Hossein Salami. Iranian media did not specify the exact date of the strike but mentioned that Afshari sustained his injuries between late July and early August.
The U.S. and Israel have both conducted strikes in Syria targeting Iran-aligned factions, increasing Tehran's influence since it began supporting President Bashar al-Assad in the 2011 civil war. In April, Iran launched explosive drones and fired missiles in its first direct strike on Israeli territory, in retaliation for an alleged Israeli attack on its Damascus diplomatic compound that killed seven Revolutionary Guard officers.
