West Bengal CM Welcomes CBI Probe into Doctor's Murder Case

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday welcomed the Calcutta High Court's decision to grant a CBI probe into the alleged rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
Banerjee also criticized the opposition CPI(M) and BJP for allegedly attempting to politicize the incident and fuel protests in the state, drawing inspiration from student agitation in Bangladesh.
In her address, the Chief Minister urged protesting doctors to end their cease work and return to duty, acknowledging that healthcare services have been severely affected. She assured that the state would fully cooperate with the CBI investigation. "We will abide by the Calcutta High Court's order and provide all necessary support to the CBI. We have no issue with the CBI handling the case as we want it resolved quickly," she said.
