Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday urged Guwahati residents, grappling with water-logging, to approach the National Green Tribunal (NGT) to curb the "unscientific hill cutting" in Meghalaya.
He said his government would take action against a private university in Meghalaya, alleging it demolished hills on its campus, escalating water logging in Guwahati.
Sarma flagged unscientific hill cutting in the Jorabat area as a primary cause of increased water logging, noting its severity in Dispur and nearby areas. His accusation targets the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM).
