Hindenburg's Allegations Against SEBI and its Chairperson: A Detailed Response
Hindenburg Research's report has alleged that SEBI's chairperson, Madhabi Puri Buch, and her husband have conflicts of interest related to investments in Adani Group-linked offshore funds. The Buchs refute these claims, providing evidence of transparent disclosures and adherence to SEBI regulations. They term the allegations as baseless character assassination attempts.
Hindenburg Research, a US-based short-seller, has launched allegations that question the credibility of SEBI and its chairperson, Madhabi Puri Buch. The claims suggest conflicts of interest due to investments in funds linked to the Adani Group.
In a strongly-worded rebuttal, the Buchs refuted these accusations, labeling them as baseless. They clarified that their investments were made as private citizens based in Singapore before Madhabi joined SEBI in 2017.
The Buchs emphasized that all their financial dealings have been transparent and compliant with SEBI regulations. They also dismissed concerns about Madhabi's consulting firms and her husband's association with Blackstone as unfounded and malicious.
