The Border Security Force (BSF) has significantly increased its manpower and deployed a vast network of CCTV cameras along the Punjab-Jammu inter-state border. This follows a surge in terrorist incidents in the Jammu region, according to the force's Punjab Frontier Chief, Inspector General (IG) Atul Fulzele.

Addressing reporters, IG Fulzele revealed that additional troops have been stationed in the Gurdaspur area of Pathankot district, which borders Jammu. 'We have established multiple posts and enhanced security measures with extensive CCTV installations. Our alertness in this area is at its peak,' he stated.

The IG also highlighted that the smuggling of narcotics into Punjab has now primarily shifted to drone deliveries from Pakistan, underscoring the collaboration of state-sponsored elements in this new modus operandi. The BSF has adopted innovative strategies to track and intercept these drones, seizing heroin, weapons, and ammunition. Preparations are underway for heightened security in anticipation of Independence Day celebrations.
