Haryana Cabinet Approves Job Security Ordinance for Contractual Employees

The Haryana Cabinet approved an ordinance ensuring job security for contractual employees until superannuation, benefiting around 1.20 lakh employees. The cabinet also amended the Haryana Panchayati Raj Act to provide BC-B reservations in Panchayati Raj Institutions. The Haryana Cabinet has approved an ordinance aimed at ensuring job security for contractual employees until the age of superannuation. This move is set to benefit approximately 1.20 lakh employees.

This decision, which comes just months before the assembly polls, was taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. The cabinet also approved amendments to the Haryana Panchayati Raj Act 1994, ensuring proportionate reservation for persons belonging to Backward Classes 'B' in Panchayati Raj Institutions.

The Haryana Contractual Employees (Security of Tenure) Ordinance, 2024, aims to enhance facilities and guarantee job security for contractual employees. Employees who complete five years of service by August 15, 2024, will be eligible for various benefits including salary increments, health facilities under PM-Jan Arogya Yojana-Chirayu Extension Scheme, and gratuity, though certain salary caps and exclusions apply. The ordinance also implements proportional reservation for BC-B based on recommendations from the Haryana Backward Classes Commission.
