A constable's speech and hearing impaired son has played a pivotal role in assisting Mumbai police to crack a murder case by communicating with the accused, who also has similar disabilities, an official revealed on Thursday.

The investigation started when the body of a 30-year-old man, later identified as Arshad Ali Sadique Ali Shaikh, was discovered in a trolley bag at Dadar railway station on August 5, officials reported.

The Dadar railway police faced a significant challenge as the accused, Jay Chawda, was also speech and hearing impaired, making it difficult to extract vital information about the crime. In a bid to overcome this hurdle, the police sought the assistance of Gaurav, the son of constable Rajesh Satpute, both of whom are alumni of Sadhna Vidyalaya, a school for the speech and hearing impaired.
