Jammu and Kashmir's security grid has been placed on high alert ahead of the fifth anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370. Security forces have been instructed to avoid convoy movements on Monday.

In communication to all agencies, the police advised a 'dry day' to ensure no security convoy movements on August 5, also restricting the movement of Amarnath pilgrims' convoys.

Despite these restrictions, agencies responsible for road security on Amarnath yatra routes and national highways have been directed to maintain active deployment. The Centre annulled Article 370 on August 5, 2019, revoking Jammu and Kashmir's special status and reorganizing the state into two union territories.

On this anniversary, while most political parties in Jammu and Kashmir criticize the move, the BJP plans to hold functions across the region to celebrate fulfilling a long-standing campaign promise. The advisory comes amid fears of potential terror attacks marking the day.
