In an effort to strengthen ties between India and China, Chinese Consul General in Mumbai, Kong Xianhua, lauded the Indian Coast Guard for its lifesaving efforts. The recognition comes as the Coast Guard, in collaboration with the Indian Navy, successfully rescued a Chinese mariner in critical condition on July 24.

Kong, during a visit to the Indian Coast Guard Headquarters in the West, expressed deep gratitude for the prompt and professional rescue missions carried out over the past two years. He met Inspector General Bhisham Sharma, Commander of the Indian Coast Guard (West), highlighting past bilateral aid and shared philosophies of placing people first.

The senior diplomat reiterated the importance of mutual support, stressing that the historical compassion and cooperation should serve as a foundation for future relations. Kong noted the successful rescues of 27 Chinese citizens over the past decade as emblematic of the strong ties and shared values between the two neighboring countries.
