Linda Maguire Appointed as New Director of UNDP's Bureau for Management Services
Since March 2021, Ms. Maguire has served as the UNDP’s Deputy Assistant Administrator and Deputy Regional Director in the Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean.
United Nations Secretary-General today announced the appointment of Ms. Linda Maguire as Assistant Secretary-General, Assistant Administrator and Director, Bureau for Management Services (BMS) of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
Since March 2021, Ms. Maguire has served as the UNDP’s Deputy Assistant Administrator and Deputy Regional Director in the Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean.
Following the announcement, UNDP Administrator Achim Steiner said “I am delighted to warmly welcome Ms. Linda Maguire to this new role as the Director of UNDP’s Bureau for Management Services (BMS), bringing with her an intimate, in-depth knowledge of the organization, of its country – level programme operations and of the needs of our teams serving 170 countries on the ground and depending on a modern, effective and responsive 21st century management services platform.”
Ms. Maguire’s previous appointments within UNDP include Resident Representative and Supervisor of the UNDP Regional Hub in Panama and UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Paraguay; Chief of Country/Oversight Support with UNDP’s Regional Bureau for Africa; and a Senior Policy Advisor, with the Democratic Governance Group in Mexico and in the Bureau for Development Policy (BDP). Ms. Maguire also served as an Evaluation Specialist in the Evaluation Office in New York and started her career with UNDP as Advisor and Special Assistant to the Director, Management Development and Governance Division, with BDP in New York.
Prior to joining UNDP, she was a Senior Program Officer for West Africa at the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) in Washington, D.C., Côte d'Ivoire, and Mali. She started her career with the New York County District Attorney's Office.
Ms. Maguire succeeds Ms. Angelique Crumby to whom Administrator Steiner extends his gratitude and appreciation for her leadership, commitment, and dedication during an important period of transition and innovation for UNDP.
A national of the United States of America, Ms. Maguire holds a Master degree of Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School, Tufts University, USA and a bachelor’s degree in international relations from Tufts University. She speaks three languages (English, French and Spanish) and is a passionate advocate for sustainable, just, and peaceful future for all.
