In the wake of devastating landslides in Kerala's Wayanad district, military and rescue operations have intensified. More than 100 lives have been claimed, and around 1,000 people have been rescued so far.
The Army reported that incessant rains early Tuesday triggered the landslides, leaving 132 dead and over 200 injured. Rescue teams from the Defence Security Corps Centre, National Disaster Response Force, and other state teams are actively involved in the efforts.
Heavy engineering equipment and rescue dog teams have been airlifted while a 690-ft Bailey bridge is being deployed to expedite relief efforts. The Indian Army is closely coordinating with state authorities to ensure swift and effective rescue operations amidst adverse weather conditions.
