In a critical remark, veteran actor Shabana Azmi on Wednesday voiced her concerns over media organizations hastily publishing unverified reports about tabla maestro Zakir Hussain’s death.
Azmi, who shared the screen with Hussain in the 1997 film 'Saaz', used her Instagram platform to express her disapproval of how the media handled the rumors surrounding Hussain's passing. 'What is this rush to put out news on social media before confirming it,' she lamented.
Confusion ensued on Sunday evening when several prominent personalities, including Amitabh Bachchan and Ranveer Singh, fell victim to the unconfirmed reports. Hussain's family, however, clarified the situation, announcing on Monday his death in a San Francisco hospital at the age of 73, due to idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
