Tragic Blasts at PMF Base South of Baghdad: 3 Dead, 4 Wounded
Blasts at a base used by Iraq's Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) south of Baghdad killed three and injured four. Initial reports indicated one death, with two more succumbing later. Two PMF commanders accused the U.S. of airstrikes. No immediate U.S. military response was given.
BAGHDAD, July 30 (Reuters) - Blasts at a base used by Iraq's Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), a state security agency containing several Iran-aligned groups, killed three members and wounded four others on Tuesday, according to police and medical sources.
The initial death toll was one, but critically injured individuals died later, hospital sources revealed.
This incident follows multiple rocket launches at Iraq's Ain al-Asad airbase, housing U.S.-led forces, last Thursday. Two PMF local commanders accused the U.S. of conducting airstrikes that targeted the base, but there was no immediate response from the U.S. military.
Ambulances rushed to the scene, located 50 km south of Baghdad. The incident occurred amid escalating attacks since the Israel-Hamas war broke out in October.
