BSF Seizes 19 Smuggler Boats in Meghalaya's East Khasi Hills

The Border Security Force (BSF) has seized 19 boats used by smugglers from Bangladesh in Meghalaya's East Khasi Hills district. The smugglers fled upon seeing BSF personnel near Jadukata River. The BSF has lodged a protest with Bangladesh and discussed enhanced border monitoring and patrolling with their counterparts.

The Border Security Force (BSF) has successfully seized 19 boats used by Bangladeshi smugglers operating in Meghalaya's East Khasi Hills district. The operation took place near the Jadukata River, where BSF personnel observed a group of smugglers attempting to cross into India to collect stone boulders and sand.

Upon spotting the BSF troops, the smugglers abandoned their wooden boats and escaped. The BSF has formally lodged a complaint with Bangladesh's Border Guards (BGB), prompting a meeting between senior officers from both sides to enhance monitoring and patrol measures along the border.

The seized boats are currently in custody and will be handed over to Customs for further legal procedures. Both forces have agreed to implement simultaneous patrolling systems and boost vigilance, particularly in vulnerable areas, to strengthen border security.
