IIM Visakhapatnam and NCGG Launch 5-Day Training Program on Digital Governance

IIM Visakhapatnam and NCGG Launch 5-Day Training Program on Digital Governance

The 5-day training program on Digital Governance, jointly organized by IIM Visakhapatnam and the National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG), commenced at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Visakhapatnam on July 29, 2024. The program, running until August 2, 2024, is designed for senior officers in the ranks of Commissioner, Project Director, Program Director, Chief Operating Officer, Assistant Director, and Joint Director from various IT departments across 11 states.

The training aims to enhance the competencies and skills of government officials working in the IT and digital sector. It focuses on developing the ability to conceptualize and implement impactful e-governance projects and equips participants with the strategies necessary for effectively utilizing the latest digital technologies to improve public service delivery.

In his inaugural address, Shri V. Srinivas, Director General of NCGG and Secretary of the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), highlighted the significance of the collaborative program. He emphasized its role in building state capacity for digital governance and discussed the evolving landscape of governance. His presentation, “Centralized Public Grievance Redressal System: A Foundation for Smart Government,” underlined the transformative role of technology in enhancing governance efficiency and bringing citizens closer to the government.

Prof. M. Chandrasekhar, Director of IIM Visakhapatnam, expressed satisfaction with the program’s launch. He noted that digital governance can significantly improve accountability, transparency, and responsiveness in public service delivery. Professor Josyula Srinivas, Course Director from IIM Visakhapatnam, elaborated on the program's curriculum, which includes topics such as Digital India, Digital Governance, Digital Transformation, Business Process Reengineering, Effective Change Management, Information Security Management, IT Project Management, Digital Marketing for Public Service Delivery, Digital Trust, and Emerging Technologies. The program also features case studies and best practices from various states.

Dr. B.S. Bisht, Associate Professor and Course Director from NCGG, concluded the opening session with a vote of thanks. The program is being overseen by Prof. Srinivas Joysula, Course Director at IIM Visakhapatnam; Dr. B.S. Bisht, Associate Professor and Course Director at NCGG; Dr. Sanjeev Sharma, Associate Course Coordinator; and a dedicated training team from both institutions.
