The Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) officially inaugurated its 'One DAE One Subscription' (ODOS) initiative today at Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai. This innovative program unites DAE and its approximately 60 subunits under a single subscription, granting them comprehensive access to national and international research papers and scientific journals. The initiative aims to streamline resource sharing and foster collective growth in scientific research.

During the launch, Dr. A.K. Mohanty, Secretary of DAE and Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission (AEC), expressed his enthusiasm for the ODOS Transformative Agreement. He highlighted it as a major step toward integrating read and publishing requirements across DAE. Dr. Mohanty believes that ODOS will significantly benefit scientists, engineers, students from HBNI, and researchers at affiliated institutes by providing access to a vast pool of knowledge and enabling open access publishing. He also noted that ODOS will eventually merge with a larger national project, One Nation One Subscription (ONOS), initiated by the Office of the Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India, which is currently in various stages of implementation.

Shri A.K. Nayak, Head of the National Centre for Physics and Works (NCPW) at DAE, described the ODOS initiative as a key step toward making knowledge more accessible. He emphasized that ODOS represents a crucial move toward the broader ONOS goal, which seeks to democratize access to information and contribute to India’s advancement.

Dr. Sudeep Gupta, Director of Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), remarked on the evolving nature of libraries in the digital age. He stressed that access to current scientific knowledge is vital for driving creative innovation and avoiding redundant research. Dr. Gupta praised DAE for its pioneering role in advancing this new approach to knowledge sharing and research.

The ODOS initiative marks a significant advancement in scientific collaboration and resource accessibility, setting the stage for further developments under the ONOS framework.
