Chaos ensued at Bengaluru railway station after a large meat shipment arrived, prompting an investigation by the Karnataka Food Safety and Standards department. Samples from the shipment, suspected to be dog meat, have been sent for lab analysis.

On Friday night, a consignment weighing approximately three tonnes reached the station from Jaipur, causing tension among self-styled cow vigilantes who alleged it was dog meat. Meat dealer Abdul Razzaq, who ordered the shipment, refuted claims, asserting it was sheep meat.

The Food Safety and Standard Authority Commissionerate reported that officials and police conducted an inspection on July 26, discovering 90 parcels of animal meat being loaded onto a transport vehicle. Legal actions will follow based on lab results, with detailed information on FSSAI licenses being scrutinized.
