India-Laos: Strengthening Ties through Quick Impact Projects
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met with Laotian counterpart Saleumxay Kommasith to discuss bilateral cooperation. They signed MoUs for 10 Quick Impact Projects (QIPs) focusing on tourism, culture, education, and technology. The meeting also launched a special stamp set celebrating Ramayana and Buddhism.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar held a significant meeting with Laotian counterpart Saleumxay Kommasith on Saturday, during which they signed MoUs for 10 Quick Impact Projects (QIPs) focusing on various sectors in Laos. The projects are part of the Mekong-Ganga Cooperation, an initiative involving India and five ASEAN countries.
Jaishankar and Kommasith also agreed to share successful digital solutions as a part of their collaborative efforts. Jaishankar, who is in Vientiane to attend the ASEAN meetings, expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality extended to him.
The meeting highlighted the expansion of the MGC initiative to include new areas such as health, traditional medicine, and agricultural development. Additionally, a special stamp set celebrating the shared cultural heritage of Ramayana and Buddhism was launched.
