V D Satheesan, Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala Assembly, has called for the resignation of state Culture Minister Saji Cherian. Satheesan accused Cherian of aligning with perpetrators following revelations in the Justice Hema Committee report. The report detailed harassment and exploitation of women in the Malayalam film industry.
Satheesan claimed Cherian delayed the report's release for four years and stated that a case could be registered only if a complaint was filed. According to Satheesan, Cherian refused to support the victims and instead supported the wrongdoers.
The opposition party demands that a woman IPS officer investigate the allegations detailed in the Hema Committee report, emphasizing that not registering a case after learning about such atrocities is a criminal offense.
