China and South Korea Stress Cooperation Amid Regional Tensions

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has urged China and South Korea to avoid external interference and expand their common interests. His statement came during a meeting with South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul at the ASEAN Summit held in Laos.

According to a statement from the Chinese foreign ministry, Wang emphasized the importance of finding common ground and undertaking measures that build mutual trust. Additionally, both ministers agreed to maintain close and strategic communication aimed at ensuring peace and stability on the Korean peninsula, as confirmed by Seoul's foreign ministry.

Cho expressed serious concerns over the strengthening relations between Russia and China and called on Beijing to adopt a constructive role in fostering regional peace. This marks the second meeting between Wang and Cho since the latter assumed office earlier this year, the ministry added.
