Senior Army, civil, and police officers on Wednesday gathered for a wreath-laying ceremony to honor Lance Naik Subhash Chander, who lost his life in a gunfight with terrorists at the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district.

Lance Naik Subhash Chander was killed during a skirmish in the Battal area of Krishna Ghati sector early Tuesday as the Army successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt by terrorists from across the border.

The ceremony took place at the Indian Air Force (IAF) station in the afternoon, before the soldier's mortal remains were sent to his hometown in Uttar Pradesh.

The event was led by Lieutenant General Navin Sachdeva, General Officer Commanding of the White Knight Corps, and attended by several IAF officers.

Anand Jain, Additional Director General of Police of Jammu zone, Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, and other senior civil and police officers also laid down wreaths and saluted the fallen hero.

The recent increase in terror activities in Jammu has raised concerns about a potential revival of militancy in the region.
