Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution & New and Renewable Energy, Shri Pralhad Joshi, has hailed the Budget 2024-25 as a testament to the NDA Government's dedication to building a New India.

In a media briefing, Shri Pralhad Joshi expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman for prioritizing education, employment, and skill development in the budget, paving the way for a developed Bharat (Vikshit Bharat).

Highlighting the MNRE sector, the Union Minister mentioned the overwhelming support for the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, with more than 1.28 crore registrations and 14 lakh applications already submitted. This scheme aims to facilitate the installation of rooftop solar panels, providing one crore households with free electricity up to 300 units per month. Shri Pralhad Joshi emphasized that the scheme is particularly beneficial for the middle class, lower middle class, and poor people, calling it one of the best schemes in the world.

The Union Minister also noted that the mining of critical and offshore minerals will receive a significant boost. Customs duties on 25 critical minerals will be exempted, and the Basic Custom Duty (BCD) on two minerals will be reduced. This move is expected to streamline the supply chain of critical minerals.
