A doctor in Navi Mumbai has been charged with culpable homicide after allegedly performing an illegal abortion that resulted in the death of a 25-year-old woman, according to police reports on Tuesday.

The investigation revealed that Gajendra Dagadkhaire, the woman's paramour, sent her to Thane with his friend, Ravikant Gaikwad, for the procedure. Following her death, Dagadkhaire and Gaikwad allegedly disposed of her body and her children's bodies in the Indrayani river, Pimpri Chinchwad police confirmed.

The doctor did not follow legal protocols and failed to inform authorities of the woman's death, instead handing over the body improperly. Although the doctor and an agent involved in organizing the procedure are also accused, no arrests have been made against them so far. The woman's mother filed a missing person report, which led to the ongoing investigation.
