The Navi Mumbai police have arrested a 40-year-old Nigerian woman in relation to a major drug bust involving mephedrone worth more than Rs 2 crore. According to an official statement on Saturday, this arrest brings the total number of detainees in the case to three.

On July 16, law enforcement officers apprehended two individuals from the Vashi area of Navi Mumbai, recovering 1.04 kilograms of mephedrone. Senior Inspector Neeraj Chowdhary from the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of the Navi Mumbai police crime branch confirmed the arrests and stated that a case has been filed under the Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

During their interrogation, the two suspects revealed that they had sourced the contraband from a Nigerian woman residing in Naigaon, Palghar district. Acting on this information, the ANC team set up a trap and arrested the woman, seizing an additional 432 grams of mephedrone worth Rs 86.40 lakh. The total seizure now amounts to 1.472 kilograms, valued at Rs 2.87 crore.
