Mizoram Police have arrested a couple from Jharkhand, accused of murdering their friend in Aizawl seven years ago, a senior officer reported on Thursday.
Manik Das, 44, and Anjali Devi, 40, were detained from their Aamdhari village residence in Dumka district on September 29 and brought back to Aizawl after an extensive investigation marred by previous legal and logistical hurdles.
The alleged crime took place in March 2017 when they were accused of murdering their friend Mangra and burying the body inside their rented accommodation. The couple had fled the scene, only to be taken into custody recently by Mizoram Police despite previous resistance linked to ongoing national protests and the pandemic.
