Amid a surge in terror incidents in Jammu, Union Minister Jitendra Singh has confirmed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is closely monitoring the security situation. A new strategy to neutralize terrorists is in place, though its specifics remain confidential.

Singh revealed that Village Defence Guards (VDGs), crucial in past counter-terrorism efforts, will be revived and strengthened with modern weapons. Over the last six weeks, Jammu has witnessed 24 deaths and 56 injuries due to heightened militancy, including the loss of four army personnel in the Doda district.

Additionally, Singh emphasized the government's commitment to improving the VDGs and announced the opening of a sanitary napkin manufacturing unit to promote hygiene among women in remote areas. He also highlighted future infrastructure projects, including an airstrip and an 8,000-megawatt electricity generation plan for Kishtwar.
