AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Thursday slammed the BJP-led Uttar Pradesh government over an advisory to eateries on the Kanwar yatra route to display the names of its owners, and challenged UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to issue a written order in this regard.

Describing it as a discriminative measure, the Hyderabad MP accused the government of trying to reduce Muslims to second-grade citizens. Owaisi argued that the directive is a violation of Article 17 of the Constitution, which addresses untouchability, and accused the government of promoting such an ideology. Owaisi pointed out that Muslim employees in 'dhabas' have already been let go following the advisory.

Owaisi further alleged that this move is part of a broader Hindutva scheme implemented by the BJP, which he claimed advocates for a social boycott of Muslims. He reiterated his challenge to UP CM Adityanath to put his verbal directive into a written order.
