In commemoration of India's 75th year as a Republic, the Department of Justice (DoJ) organized the 2nd Regional event of the 'Hamara Samvidhan Hamara Samman' campaign at the AMA Convention Centre (AMACC) in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh today. This event is an extension of the national year-long campaign launched by Vice President on January 24, 2024, aimed at promoting constitutional awareness and legal rights across the country.

The inaugural ceremony was graced by Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, Union Minister of State (I/C) for Law & Justice, and MoS for Parliamentary Affairs, along with Hon’ble Justice Arun Bhansali, Chief Justice of the High Court of Judicature at Allahabad, and Hon’ble Mr. Justice Manoj Kumar Gupta, Executive Chairman of UP State Legal Services Authority. About 800 participants, including representatives from Bar Associations, Judicial officers, Advocates, Tele-Law program functionaries under the DISHA scheme, District Administration, Police Officials, Law students, and faculties, attended the event.

A highlight of the event was the launch of the 'Hamara Samvidhan Hamara Samman' portal, designed as a knowledge repository providing citizens easy access to constitutional information and legal rights. The portal will also showcase activities undertaken as part of the campaign, feature an event calendar, and offer interactive tools for community-based learning.

Secretary (Justice) DoJ welcomed the dignitaries and participants, outlining the campaign's elements including 'Sabko Nyaya - Har Ghar Nyaya,' 'Nav Bharat Nav Sankalp,' and 'Vidhi Jagriti Samman.' These initiatives, aligned with the Ministry of Law & Justice's mandate for Justice for all, aim to foster inclusivity and participation in legal awareness across India.

In his keynote address, Union MoS (I/C) for Law and Justice, Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, reflected on the Constitution's role in safeguarding citizens' rights since its inception in 1950. He acknowledged ongoing challenges of economic and societal inequalities, emphasizing the role of NALSA/SLSA/DLSA/TLSC initiatives in realizing Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's vision of social justice. Shri Meghwal announced plans to expand the campaign with upcoming regional events in Kochi, Srinagar, and Itanagar later this year, aiming to enhance constitutional awareness nationwide.

The event also recognized the High Court of Judicature at Allahabad for its commendable pro bono legal services, underscoring their contribution to access to justice. Registrar General Shri Rajiv Bharti detailed the impact of the "Nyaya Bandhu" program in facilitating legal aid, highlighting the active participation of Allahabad High Court lawyers in providing pro bono services.

Chief Justice Mr. Justice Arun Bhansali praised the campaign as a call to action for constitutional education, stressing the judiciary's role in ensuring justice, equality, liberty, and fraternity for every citizen. He highlighted the potential of localized initiatives to address social inequalities, applauding the humanitarian perspective of the Nyaya Bandhu program.

Mr. Justice Manoj Kumar Gupta, Executive Chairman of UPSLSA, emphasized the foundational role of the Indian Constitution in democracy, urging greater efforts in educating citizens about their rights. He emphasized the transformative impact of legal awareness initiatives in communities, advocating for widespread constitutional literacy.

Minister Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal concluded the event by felicitating winners of the campaign competitions, emphasizing citizen engagement in promoting constitutional values. He drew a parallel between Prayagraj's Triveni Sangam and the harmonious convergence of India's three state organs—Legislature, Executive, and Judiciary—symbolizing unity and progress.
