Ohio police officers attending the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee shot and killed Samuel Sharpe during a knife fight, Milwaukee Police Chief Jeffrey Norman said on Tuesday. Sharpe had knives in both hands and ignored police commands, Norman added.

The shooting, about a mile from the convention site, has sparked local outrage, with many residents questioning the necessity and jurisdiction of out-of-state officers. Community members, including volunteer Kenneth Johnson and Sharpe's cousin Linda, expressed frustration and disbelief.

Local officials and the Columbus Police Department have stated that the actions of the officers were lawful and within the operational zone designated for convention security, despite the incident not being directly related to the event itself.
