In a dramatic turn of events, a masked robber made away with a bag containing around Rs 6.5 lakh in cash from a nationalised bank in Indore, police reported on Tuesday.

The incident took place in the Vijay Nagar area wherein a raincoat-clad man entered during the afternoon hours, firing a round into the air to threaten bank staff, according to Additional Commissioner of Police Amit Singh.

The investigation seeks to outline the exact sequence of events and confirms speculation that the bag was indeed snatched by the robber. CCTV footage indicates that the heist involved at least two accomplices covering the robber. Police have identified the suspects and anticipate making arrests soon. Importantly, there was no security guard present at the bank due to its policy, and authorities believe that the perpetrator may be an ex-serviceman, having noticed he picked up empty cartridges at the scene.
