European Council President Charles Michel on Tuesday strongly criticized Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban for declaring that the European Union holds a 'pro-war' stance in the Ukraine conflict.
Michel stressed that Orban, who leads Hungary's current rotating presidency of the EU Council, has no mandate to speak on behalf of the EU in international matters.
'The rotating Presidency of the Council has no role in representing the Union on the international stage and received no European Council mandate to engage on behalf of the Union,' Michel stated in a letter, which was seen by Reuters.
