Tripura Minister Tinku Roy's four-member team faced an outraged crowd during their visit to Gandatwisa in Dhalai district, where homes were set ablaze following a deadly clash.
Villagers vandalized the office of the Gandatwisa sub-divisional magistrate, accusing the police and local authorities of inaction during the July 12 attack. Social media footage showed a furious youth detailing how 11 weddings were cancelled due to the arson.
Minister Roy assured that the government would compensate the affected families and ensure security to prevent future incidents. Despite villagers' anger, Roy stated they were simply voicing their grievances. Around 300 villagers are still in shelters, and efforts are underway for compensation and security measures.
