Tensions escalated in Jharkhand's Palamu district after a fatal accident between a bus and an auto-rickshaw resulted in the death of a man on Monday.

Om Prakash Viswakarma, aged 34, was killed instantly while two others sustained injuries, according to Lesliganj sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Manoj Kumar Jha.

In the wake of the incident, infuriated villagers converged at the scene, evacuating passengers before torching the bus. They also attacked the driver, who subsequently required medical treatment at a local hospital, police reported.
