Arnab Dam, a Maoist leader serving a life sentence, is poised to enroll in a PhD program at Burdwan University after earning top marks in the admission test. The West Bengal government has stepped in to resolve administrative hurdles, paving the way for his academic pursuits.
Dam, implicated in multiple violent attacks and killings, is being transferred from Hooghly Correctional Home to Burdwan to facilitate his enrolment. Security measures will be implemented during his visits to the university. Correctional Administration Minister Akhil Giri confirmed this move.
TMC leader Kunal Ghosh emphasized that while Dam's legal trials must continue, his pursuit of higher education represents a positive development for society.
