In a shocking incident, fifteen individuals sustained injuries in Silchar town, Assam, when an allegedly drunk driver went on a rampage with his SUV. The vehicle collided with several people and vehicles before coming to a halt due to poor road conditions, police reported on Saturday.
The chaotic scenes took place on Friday night, escalating panic across the town. The SUV initially struck three pedestrians near the municipal office. In a subsequent attempt to flee, the vehicle hit another three individuals at Capital Point. The havoc continued as it crashed into three motorbikes and several e-rickshaws near Trunk Road by the radio station, authorities said.
As the SUV barreled through the streets, onlookers began following the vehicle on their two-wheelers. It eventually came to a forced stop at Tennis Club Point owing to the deteriorated road it encountered, police reported. Law enforcement officers swiftly arrived at the scene, taking both the vehicle and its driver into custody. Several bottles of liquor were discovered inside the car, a police officer confirmed. 'A total of 15 people were injured in the incident,' the officer added.
