Security agencies are working together to eliminate terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district, which has seen multiple deadly attacks in the past two and a half years, according to a senior police officer.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Yougal Manhas stated that the Army and security agencies are on high alert to thwart Pakistan's attempts to infiltrate terrorists into the region. Speaking at a public meeting in Mendhar town, Manhas also called for civil society's help in tackling the district's drug problem.

Manhas assured that the security grid is well-coordinated, aiming to eradicate terrorism. Since October 2021, Poonch and the nearby Rajouri district have experienced numerous terror attacks, causing around 50 fatalities, mostly among army personnel. Manhas highlighted ongoing anti-drug efforts, including regular counseling and awareness programs for youth.
