In a significant move to enhance road safety, the police in Noida and Greater Noida have lodged 19 FIRs against parents whose underage children were found driving or riding vehicles in the last three days.

On Friday alone, nine FIRs were filed, adding to the five each registered on Thursday and Wednesday. These actions were taken under the Motor Vehicles (MV) Act and Section 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for endangering human life and personal safety.

The Gautam Buddh Nagar Police Commissionerate had earlier issued a stern warning on July 9 about the severe penalties for underage driving, including fines up to Rs 25,000, legal actions against parents, and cancellation of vehicle registration for 12 months, along with a ban on license issuance until age 25 for the minor involved.
