The Bombay High Court has formed a special bench to address the appeals and confirmations of death sentences concerning the 7/11 serial train blasts case, 18 years after the tragic incident.

On July 11, 2006, seven blasts on Western Railway suburban trains killed over 180 people and injured many more. The special division bench, chaired by Justices Anil Kilor and Shyam Chandak, will commence hearings from July 15.

This decision follows an application by convict Ehtesham Siddique, who seeks an expedited hearing through his lawyer Yug Chaudhary. Despite multiple listings before various benches, the appeals of 12 convicts—five sentenced to death and seven to life imprisonment—remain unheard.
