Senior bureaucrat Nikunj Kumar Srivastava has been appointed as senior adviser to the executive director of the World Bank in Washington DC. This is part of key foreign postings approved by the Centre on Wednesday.

Srivastava, from the 1998-batch of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and the Madhya Pradesh cadre, will be serving in this role for three years, as per the order issued by the Personnel Ministry. He succeeds Gujarat-cadre IAS officer Rajeev Topno.

Additionally, Ashutosh Jindal, a 1995-batch IAS officer from the Tripura cadre, has been named minister (economic) in the Embassy of India in Washington DC, replacing Ravi Kota. Hrisheekesh Arvind Modak, a 2008-batch IAS officer from Manipur cadre, has also been appointed as adviser to the ED, World Bank, Washington DC, succeeding Rajender Kumar, a 2004-batch IAS officer from Gujarat cadre.

Further appointments include Anshika Arora, a 2010-batch Indian Economic Service (IES) officer, who will serve as counsellor (services) at the Permanent Mission of India to the World Trade Organization in Geneva. Ashutosh Salil, a 2010-batch IAS officer from Maharashtra cadre, will be an adviser (industry & engineering) at the Embassy of India in Brussels for three years. Prasanth Chandran, a 2007-batch IES officer, has been appointed director at the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) Secretariat in Dhaka.
