Delhi women and child development minister Kailash Gahlot announced on Monday that the women helpline 181 will soon be managed by his department, transitioning from the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW). The helpline was operational until June 30.
The central government intends to make it mandatory for the 181 helpline to be run by the Women and Child Development Department. Preparations for this change are already underway, according to Gahlot. The transition might take a day or two, he added.
Until the transition is complete, individuals seeking help can call helpline 112, and all women-related calls will be forwarded to the department. Gahlot expressed optimism that 181 would resume operations shortly.
